Boo! It's scary how awesome Halloween is.

I don't know why it surprises people when I say Halloween is my favorite holiday...cause it's bad ace. It only makes me believe they really haven't thought through how just incredibly bad ace Halloween is. So per usual, I'm here to help ya out.
My reasons for loving it so are 8 fold...
1. Candy. It's free, as in people just give it to you.
2. No familial obligations. No dinners, or religious ceremonies for that matter, for your parents to insist on you attending.
3. Dressing like an idiot. It's a giant theme party. Love.
4. Prize money. No other holiday affords the opportunity to win cash prizes. Except for Easter when my Gee-Ga used to put some change in the hidden plastic eggs.
5. Getting ham-a-lam-a-ding-donged with your friends. Encouraged. That's not coffee in the picture below....it's my 3rd shot of the night.

6. Eye-Candy. Granted there is also some eye-broccoli out there, but people typically utilize this holiday to wear as little clothing as possible.
7. Pumpkin everything. Carving, Lattes, Icecreams, pies, cookies, muffins, candies, cakes. He loves pumpkin so much he's making out with this one.

8. Animals in costumes. Redic cute.

Yeah booooyyyy!
It is sincerely difficult to believe it's only been a year since Tuxedo welcomed her baby brother into our house with extended claws and that sweet hiss that I heard all too often for our first few months together. I remember being on the verge of tears the day after I brought Flavor Flav home, thinking that there was no way I could keep him and prevent Tuxedo from eating him alive.
Which was a problem, because after only 48 hours I was sold, he was mine and I couldn't bear to see him go. Lucky for all parties involved we stuck it out and today I don't know that I could go without being greeted by 13lbs of loving fuzz when I get home for work every day and I know (as evidenced when Flav went to the spa for 2 days) that Tuxedo would be lost without her baby bro.
It feels like, though it's only been a year, that Flav has been a part of our little family from the beginning. Seems our little man is all grown up. He's no longer covert, in fact you can ALWAYS hear him coming. It's like he's constantly stomping around...imagine this.
A snuggle bug for me, and a best friend/ultimate fighting training partner for Tux. He'll steal your heart within minutes and paint your clothes with fur before you even know what he's been up to.
I love you bunches my little blue eyed boy. Happy birthday!

DIY Cat Bed
For Flav's big birthday (1!) I knew exactly what he wanted...he's been hinting around quite a bit. See, Flav's entire day consists of 3 activites: fixing his hair (he is my cat), snuggling, and sleeping. I bought him a kitty bed after his trip to the 'spa' and he sleeps the shit out of that thing. Problem is, it's heinous. So, it lives in the corner of the room where it is cat accessible yet out of sight. Also, it's not really Flav sized so he kinda sleeps half in the bed and half out of the bed. I'm not a mathematician, but I think that adds up to the perfect idea for a birthday present. So, I've been on the lookout for a new bed that is a. flav sized and b. as cute as my kitty. With the birthday less than a week away I've had no luck so I decided to DIY.
I know he's already seen and tried out his present but I think due to the tiny cat brain it'll still be a surprise.
How about a DIY how to? Check it---I picked up two Euro style pillows at Bed, Bath and Beyond along with two pillow covers with zippers.
To go along with the pillows I made for my bedroom. Plans for those are here.
I printed out on regular printer paper both cat's names with a small pair of cat eyed glasses above them. I cut the design out on freezer paper and ironed it onto the pillow covers.

Painted the design in with black fabric paint.
After a trial run by Flav himself I figured out the pillows as they came were a little too fluffy and not exactly cat friendly, and really needed to dip in the middle so I used some buttons I had been collecting for no apparent reason to make 'cat pocket'. I sewed four buttons on each side of the pillow to pull the middle down.

And finally the finished product...a bed for each of my lovies.

Flavor of Love
The past couple days have brought some realizations in my little life....first off due to my hairdresser somehow completely avoiding my bangs during my last hair cut, my hair is looking more and more like Justin Bieber's every day, and as it turns out when you smile, I do in fact subsequently smile. Also, I'm in love and I didn't even have to go on a reality TV show. Because I'm quite certain the Bieber hair do is going as soon as I can get it cut, that is unless there happens to be a lot of Bieber-fever surrounding me, I think I'll stick to the latter of the two topics for your reading pleasure.
I'm in love, with .4 lbs of fuzz, and his name is Flavor Flav and unlike his namesake he is as handsome as can be. Last Thursday my secretary and her two teary eyed daughters handed over the most adorable bundle of blue eyed fur, and we made our way home. Needless to say Tuxedo was none too happy about the addition of a kitten to our home, and with her tiny brain seemed utterly confused as to what it was doing walking around her house. Five days, a hundred fights, and roughly 15 kitten scratches later, I spent last night sleeping in my bed with two cats who didn't remotely look like they wanted to kill each other. It was bliss.
I love kittens, they melt my heart in about .2 seconds. I can understand how people aren't cat people, but I can't fathom how someone can't love a kitten. He is perfect and wonderful and everyday when my secretary asks me if I want to take one of his brothers or sisters home too I have to remind myself that the maximum allowable cat to person ratio is two to one. I'm seriously considering getting into a committed relationship so I can have another kitten without becoming the creepy cat lady.
